Aquarium

This is a small aquarium in Ratnagiri which is located on the way to Ratnadurg Fort.
The chief attraction of this aquarium is the Huge Skull of a Whale fish. There are
several different specimens of attractive fish and turtles in the tanks.

Arevare Beach
|
|
Arevare is a safe and blue water beach in Ratnagiri. It is located near Ganapatipule.
At Arevare, the road travels past a high cliff, below which the sea waves ferociously
lap without pause.

Lokmanya Tilak Smarak

|
Ratnagiri is the birthplace of Lokmanya Tilak, one of India’s greatest freedom fighters.
His house is now preserved as a memorial called The Lokmanya Tilak Smarak which,
is diligently maintained by the local community.

Mandavi Beach
|
|
Mandavi beach is the prettiest and one of the most crowded beaches in the Ratnagiri.
Mandavi beach has lustrous black sand and hence, is known as the ‘Black Sea’.

Thibaw Palace
|
|
The Thibaw Palace was built in 1910-11. This location of this palace is very unique,
as it overlooks Ratnagiri Bay. Statues that are as old as 6th century are presently
housed in the palace as a part of the museum.

Thibaw Point
|
|
Thibaw Point offers a nice view of Bhate Beach and the nearby places. It is close
to the Thibaw Palace. The King used to sit at this point and watch the sea remembering
his homeland. The best sunset point is located here. Thibaw Point gives a classic
view of the entire city.

Haraji Bhaatakar Choupati (Bhate Beach)

|
Bhatiye beach is situated near the Bhatiye creek. It is commonly known as Suruban.
This magnificent beach is approximately 1.5 kms in length. At the end of the beach,
a famous temple of ‘Zari Vinayak’ (Ganeshji Temple) is situated.

Jaygad Fort

|
The Jaigad Fort is situated at the tip of a peninsula in Ratnagiri. Jaygad Fort
is embraced on a cliff which overlooks a bay. This is a 17th century fort which
is a famous tourist attraction. The fort has temples of Mohmayadevi and Lord Ganesha.
It also has a lighthouse from where the view of Arabian Sea and Jaigad creek is
amazing.

Purnagad Fort

The fort is very close to the village Purnagad. The fort is located near Muchikund
river creek. The fort is surrounded by Arabian Sea. The meeting point of the river
and Arabian Sea can be seen from Purnagad fort, which is a marvelous sight. On the
main entrance door of the fort, pictures of Moon, Sun and Lord Ganesha are carved.
